"EO Products became a Certified B Corporation in 2011 because we are passionate about making our products with the best ingredients and the least impact on our planet. As a certified B Corp, we think that people and their home planet are more important than net profits. B Corps are a new type of company that uses the power of business to solve social and environmental problems. Unlike traditional C Corporation businesses that are beholden to outside shareholders and profits, B Corps are beholden to the greater good.

B Corp certification is to business what Fair Trade certification is to coffee or USDA Organic certification is to milk. Today, there are over 1,000 Certified B Corps around the globe. We are proud to join them in redefining success in business, so that one day everyone uses business as a force for good.

BE THE CHANGE: WHY DID WE BECOME A B CORP?

 

Sustainability has been a part of our DNA since day one so becoming a B Corp seemed like a natural fit. 20 years ago, our co-founders recognized that natural, organic and sustainable manufacturing was central to their values of authenticity, transparency and trust. When they founded EO Products, they didn’t set out to change the world. They just wanted to do business the way they thought it should be done. They chose the motto “Love Life. Live Clean” because they felt that simple statement explained the purpose of their vision. Similarly, our B Corp certification informs our consumers and business partners how we are working toward living out that vision.

 

SUSTAINABLE MANUFACTURING

We are committed to leaving the planet in a way that honors our children and grandchildren. With our own manufacturing facility we can be innovative with our business practices.

• We use a closed loop water cooling system in our manufacturing which saves tens of thousands of gallons of water every year.

 • Our robust composting and recycling program diverts thousands of pounds of material from the refuse stream. In 2014 we recycled 125 combined tons of plastic,       cardboard, metal and wood material.

 • Our electricity is 100% offset by Green e-Energy Certified renewable energy.

 • With these steps in place EO Products is on track to be Zero Waste Certified in 2016.

 

TRANSPARENCY AND AUTHENTICITY

Over the last twenty years EO Products has grown from mixing soap in a 3-gallon stock pot in a garage to our 40,000 sq. foot Certified Organic facility in Marin County, CA. As we grew, the more we resolved to fight for transparency.

We only use the words organic or non-GMO when the ingredient or product is certified by an outside agency. We spend less on marketing  than we do on ingredients because we believe that effective, great smelling products speak for themselves. We have never taken venture capital and have no plans to do so. We use sustainable packaging. We research, develop and manufacture in house. Everything we make is cruelty free and gluten free. We refuse to make a product that we wouldn’t use on our own children or grandchildren. That means no synthetic fragrances or any ingredient that has been linked to allergies, sickness and cancer."
